Tools That Make it Easy

Quilting Tools

So let's talk quilting; of course. I know that when Quilting came to my mind, I thought: squares, ugly fabric, boring patterns, etc. Then I got my new machine and stumbled upon modern quilting, and more or so the idea of telling a story. What appealed to me most was the idea of quilting something you would see hanging on a wall as a poster.

The easiest way to do this is applique, free motion quilting, and laying out your quilt from a design in your mind.

Simple Quilts

Sewing Machine -  Yes you can do it by hand, & good for you if you have the patience!

I don't.. nor do I recommend it.

Machine quilting ensures wash-ability, along with durability. More to come on stitches and FMQ ( Free Motion Quilting )

Basting Spray- If using a machine, make sure it says for machine use, or light spray. I DO NOT recommend the heavy duty type, because it will gum up any needle. Spray is the difference between puckered quilts, and perfect flat quilt sandwiches.

Rotary Cutter & Clear Ruler- Cheap rotary cutters give you cheap results, with inaccurate cuts, and often end up wasting fabric. Spend the extra $5. Clear rulers are ESSENTIAL and always affordable.

As always, comment or question below. Ciao for now!

where it all begain

Well hello my new friends ! My name is Chelsey and I will be your quilting guide ((!)) Sorry, I just had to nerd out a bit!

I have wanted to get my page up and running for a while. So I will begin blogging and move on from there.

I am a young mother of two amusing little girls, and the other half to my most amazing best friend. About two years ago, he came into my life, with two extra bundles of joy. My oldest daughter is now 9, and my youngest little girl is 6.

It has sure been a challenge blending families, but I am proud to call myself a full time mom. I decided to jump in, both feet first. I had no idea how to tackle the little munchkins, but I knew how to sew, bake, and anything craft-like! Gosh, did it help a lot!

My favorite thing about sewing, is that my little girls had something unique, made with love, that no one else could make for them, AND it is the best stress relief I have ever found. - no joke!!

Anyways, I have been sewing for 18 years, got a new Brother machine this last November, and haven't been able to stop quilting since. My sweetheart fears that I might begin quilting wallpaper or something.... I just can't stop.

This was my 2 day project. Free motion quilting, applique, and SO easy. ((more to come on both)) Made for my sister, who is expecting her first! - Baby Aubrey -
