where it all begain

Well hello my new friends ! My name is Chelsey and I will be your quilting guide ((!)) Sorry, I just had to nerd out a bit!

I have wanted to get my page up and running for a while. So I will begin blogging and move on from there.

I am a young mother of two amusing little girls, and the other half to my most amazing best friend. About two years ago, he came into my life, with two extra bundles of joy. My oldest daughter is now 9, and my youngest little girl is 6.

It has sure been a challenge blending families, but I am proud to call myself a full time mom. I decided to jump in, both feet first. I had no idea how to tackle the little munchkins, but I knew how to sew, bake, and anything craft-like! Gosh, did it help a lot!

My favorite thing about sewing, is that my little girls had something unique, made with love, that no one else could make for them, AND it is the best stress relief I have ever found. - no joke!!

Anyways, I have been sewing for 18 years, got a new Brother machine this last November, and haven't been able to stop quilting since. My sweetheart fears that I might begin quilting wallpaper or something.... I just can't stop.

This was my 2 day project. Free motion quilting, applique, and SO easy. ((more to come on both)) Made for my sister, who is expecting her first! - Baby Aubrey -

  1. "Spray is the difference between puckered quilts, and perfect flat quilt sandwiches."

    Hi Chelsey,

I'm a newbie doing my first queen size. I've used the spray successfully on smaller projects. Wouldn't a queen size be too big for spray?

    1. Hi Ronsondalby,

I am excited to see your end result with the queen size!

First of all, I won't touch a project with the spray. My favorite brand so far is the Spray N' Bond Basting Adhesive. I find it useful because after spraying, you can peel back and re-lay the fabric if you need.

Best advice I can give you is to lay out the fabric and the batting, spray in horizontal sections and with both hands, spread out the fabric from the center out. Continue this way in horizontal sections, moving away from you, until you complete spraying.

Once you complete both sides of the sandwich, iron it out. This is the best way to remove any wrinkling, and avoid any puckers.

Are you free motion quilting your project? If not, what type of binding will you use?

      Best of Luck!

  2. "I won't touch a project with the spray"

I think you meant 'without the spray'. :)

I won't be FMQ - I have been practicing with horrible results. The cost of the fabric etc is too much to put at risk with FMQ at this stage so it will straight lines although I haven't decided what type.

A disappearing 9 patch especially queen size is lot more work than Jenny Doan hinted at in her video!

  3. Yes I mean without!* :) I need that spray.

I will post a FMQ easy guide very soon.

I tried the 3 Dudes tutorial last week for some quick pot holders. They were not so quick.

Email your result in, with tricks you learned along the way, & I will post it in my Show & Tell section coming soon!

    Kindest regards
